Project Name:Mali Felou Hydropower Station

Project Site: Kays province,Mali

Project Profile: This project is invested in and constructed by OMVS, which is organized by the four countries ofMali,Mauritania,GuineaandSenegal. With a 125.7-million-euro investment and a 38-month contract construction time, the project has diversion hydropower stations with a maximum discharge rate of 500 m3/s and bulb-type tubular turbine units. Each station’sinstalled capacitycan reach up to 3*21 MW. The investment is based on loans from the World Bank and European Investment Bank. The project owner is Manantali SOGEM, and the supervision unit is ajoint ventureorganized by Canada AECOM and France SOGREAH, and Sinohydro Corp. Ltd EPC takes overall contract.

Significant Events: On September 30, 2009, the presidents of Mali,Mauritania,Guinea and Senegal attended the project commencement ceremony.

On April 24, 2012, we finished constructing the main parts of the power house; On April 17, 2013, the first unit began to connect into grids to produce electricity.

Significance: It is not only a rare development opportunity for Mali,Mauritania,Guinea and Senegal but also the largest number of investments in recent years from the WB for anti-poverty in this area. It is the most important contracting project to date and is to be built by a Chinese company inMali. After the operation, it could yearly provide 340 million kWh of environmentally-friendly electrical energy for the countries in the river basin to develop their economy and solve the power shortage situation.
