The Brief Introduction ofAchang Irrigation Development Project in Cambodia

Achang Irrigation Development Project in Cambodia is located in Kampong Chhnang Province, which is 41km far away from Kampong Chhnang city, 120km far away from northwest of capital city Phnom Penh. No.5 highway passes the dam area which is 22.4km far away from the highway.

The project’s owner is the Ministry of Hydrology and Meteorology of Cambodia. Sinohydro Group Ltd. is the EPC contractor and the supervision unit is Guangzhou Wanan Construction supervision co,ltd. This project is financed by concessional loans from China government.

This project aims at irrigation and also takes account of ecological water supply. The whole project is made of two parts, one is Irrigation canal system that could service 10300 hectaresirrigated area,12 km along the left bank of the river. The other part is a diversion junction which is made of entrance gate, drainage brake,overflow dam,left and right bank connectors. The normal level of the dam is 28m, and the barrage diversion works toelevatethe water to get intake water level to be brought into main canal. By main andbranch canalconstruction the water could betransported tofarmland.

The project mainly contains: a sluice gate, an overflow dam, an inlet sluice, connection sector between left and right bank, main canal, branch canal, and 10regulators,10 turn-out gates, 7 culverts, 10 inverted siphon pipes on main canal, and

49regulators,100 turn-out gates, 24 culverts, 20 inverted siphon pipes on branch canal.

Total project durations is 35 months, we planned to hand over the final project certificate in October, 2018.
