Laos Nam Ngum5 Hydropower Station BOT Project Profile
The “Nam Ngum5” Hydropower Station is located on the Nam Ting river, the right branch upstream from the Nam Ngum river. It is also in the mountain area of north Laos, 300km from the capital, Ciay Vientiane. The main dam is located in Vientiane province, and the powerhouse is in Xiangkhuang province nearby. The NO.7 and No.13 highway pass the north and west parts of the basin. The dam site controls 483km2, about 2.9% of the basin, and has an average flow of 22.8m3/s and an annual runoff of 719millionm3.
The project Administration office undertakes the construction of water intakes, a 8.6-km-long diversion tunnel, a 1.2-km-long penstock, a 197m-high surge shaft, a 428-m-long tailrace tunnel and a plant booster station.
After we won the bid of Nam Ngum5 Hydropower Station in February, 2008, our bureau signed the lump sum contract on August, 31, 2008. With a 44-month construction time,
the contract includes 81,310m3 of open-cut earthwork, 342,007m3 of stonework, 20720m3 C20 of shotcrete, 2,365 Φ25 bolts, 35399 Φ20 bolts, 2339 tons of rebar, 10,479m3 of masonries, 17,813m3 of rockfill grouting, 4,479m3 of rubber water bars, 90,063m3 of excavation in open cutting stonework, 6,7961m3 of concrete, 4,871T of steel members, 2,968m of consolidation and grout and 20940m2 of surface grouting.
